ACROSTIC PUZZLESWhat is an Acrostic Puzzle?ACROSTIC : Verse in which certain letters such as the first in each line form a word or message.PUZZLE : Particularly baffling problem that is said to have a correct solution. An Acrostic puzzle has 2 parts:- Acrostic Puzzle part l. A list of Words with the identity of each word being suggested by a Clue. These words do not interlink with each other, but the set of first letters spell out an additional word (or phrase or sentence) which is referred to as the Key Word, phrase, or sentence. Acrostic Puzzle part 2. A Key Paragraph which appears in a grid. The spaces between words are indicated by black cells. It looks very similar to a traditional crossword puzzle. Typically, the Key Paragraph will be a clue to the identity of the Key Word mentioned above. In this game however, the Key Paragraph will contain an extract from a POEM. Extracts were taken from The World's Best Poetry, Volume 3 Sorrow and Consolation Author: Various (PUBLIC DOMAIN). Each letter in the list of Words also appears in the Key Paragraph, and its location in the Key Paragraph is indicated by means of an identification number. Each letter in the Key Paragraph also appears in the list of Words, and its location is indicated by both the identification number, and the identifying letter to show the Word which contains it. |

HOW TO SOLVE AN ACROSTIC PUZZLE:Any characters (q,w,e..) you type will be placed into the puzzle at the red 'focus' cells. The red focus cell will then move on to the next letter of the chosen word. The 2nd red focus cell will also move on to a new location determined by the index number found in the first red focus cell. The focus can be shifted by pointing and clicking with the mouse, or by using the arrow keys. If you solve the WORDS correctly, you will see a POEM gradually appear in the left hand section of the puzzle. The blue cells contain the poem title (and sometimes the author). We are breaking some rules for the sake of fun. More puzzles are available for you to solve. Choose a new acrostic puzzle from the selection box located immediately above the clue panel. ![]() |
